07 Apr VII Belgrade Arbitration Conference
Arbitration Association has, together with the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS), Faculty of Law University of Belgrade and the GIZ, organized the seventh Belgrade Arbitration Conference. The conference was again organized as an event preceding the eight edition of the Belgrade Open Pre-Moot. The Conference took place in the Amphitheater V of the Faculty of Law on March 20, 2015.
The first conference panel was chaired by Steven Finizio (Wilmer Hale, London) and it first dealt with the recently promulgated IBA Guidelines on Party Representation, covered by Dr. Stefan (Baker & McKenzie, Vienna). The issue of security for costs was the topic of presentation by Dr Friedrich Rosenfed (Hanefeld, Hamburg), and the topic of emergency arbitrators by Živa Filipič (ICC Paris). Finally, Anna Masser (LALIVE, Zurich) dealt with challenges to interim decisions of the arbitrators.
The second panel was chaired by Prof. Jelena Perović (Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade) and dealt with a number of procedural issues which arise as a consequence of participation of multiple parties. Extension of the arbitration agreement to third parties was covered by Milan Lazić (Karanović-Nikolić, Belgrade), while Dr Florian Mohs (Pestalozzi, Zurich) addressed jurisdictional problems which arise or might arise out of multiple contracts. Luka Krštović-Blažević (White & Case, Paris) dealt with joinder and consolidation, and Christoph Lindinger (Schoenherr, Vienna) about post M&A issues.
The conference was attended by over 250 participants from more than 30 countries. The sponsors and supporters of the conference included Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, and law offices of Wilmer Hale (London), White & Case (Paris), Moravčević, Vojnović & Partners (Belgrade) in cooperation with Schoenherr, and Karanović-Nikolić (Belgrade).
